THE MAN BEHIND THE BUSINESS
Once I left college after finishing my BTEC in Sports & Fitness I was unsure on what I wanted to do. University never really appealed to me so I decided to take up an apprenticeship at Bartfields (UK) Ltd studying my Accountancy qualification (AAT) while working full time in the centre of Leeds.
Upon completion of my AAT I continued working in the accountancy industry for another year before deciding to open up my own Sports & Teamwear shop in Pontefract. We specialised in providing football kits for local teams alongside working with schools, businesses and other corporate clients to offer excellent personalised products. I spent a very successful 10 years in this industry before splitting my time between the running of HSA Leisure & coaching. Im hoping with the launch of this new online store we can continue to help provide clubs and individuals with quality products at a low price.
Since finishing playing semi-professional football, I have developed a breadth of knowledge across varying roles within the football industry with both male and female players. I have worked in 2 professional academies at Barnsley Football Club and Huddersfield Town as well as having National Championship success with Huddersfield New College girls. In addition, I led the programme at Huddersfield University for 3 years and even had success coaching within the English Schools Football Association with the England U15 School Girls. I am current UEFA A Licence coach hold both the UEFA B Licence in goalkeeping and outfield coaching.
My work with both Barnsley and Huddersfield Town Academies involved coaching the goalkeepers from U9-U18’s and I was the goalkeeping coach for the U15 girls English Schools’ Football Association. As Head of Football at the University of Huddersfield, I led a programme of 3 men’s teams and 1 women’s team. Both the men and women had success under my leadership with the men’s 1st team winning BUCS Division 3, men’s 2nd team winning BUCS Division 5 and the women’s team finishing runners up in BUCS Division 2. As Head of Women's Football at Huddersfield New College for 2 years, we won the AOC National Cup and the Category 2 league in my second year.
I recently left my role as the First Team Manager of Huddersfield Town Women, a club where I have been involved for over 6 years now, over 4 years as manager. They compete in the third tier of the women's football pyramid. Last season saw us reach our highest ever points total and league position, finishing 4th. In addition, we were the only Tier 3 team to reach the 5th round of the Women’s FA Cup, beating Championship side Charlton Athletic in the 4th round and only exiting to eventual runners up West Ham United from the Women’s Super League.
In my current role with the Huddersfield Town Foundation, I work in various schools across West Yorkshire delivering PE and classroom support. Alongside this, I oversee coach recruitment and the women's football program as well as delivery on the wide array of community-based projects including festivals and workshops.
